Course Description
This course helps students learn and practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts through explicit instruction, hands-on learning activities, skill and drills, timed tests, and games. We will also cover concepts such as multiplying three or more factors, long division, place value to one billion, decimals, rounding, percentages, measurement, and begin simplifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and more.
We will be using various resources for this class provided by me. No textbook is required. However, each week your student will need to print homework from Google Classroom. Due to the once weekly nature of the class, students will require a parent to help with homework, activities, etc. at home.
Course Objectives
Develop a firm foundation in math building blocks for TCC’s Fundamentals of Math
Learn math facts to fluency
Strengthen basic math skills where gaps may have occurred in order to succeed in upper level math
Work cooperatively and respectfully with peers during gameplay
Homework
Weekly time commitment at home: approximately 1 ½ hours/week.
*Parents will be expected to work with their students at home on homework.

Required Books & Materials
(Students are responsible for purchasing textbooks unless stated otherwise.)
All worksheets for homework will be uploaded to Google Classroom each week. These will need to be printed at home for completion.
It is helpful for students to have a set of multiplication flashcards for at-home practice during the first semester. Not required.
