Course Description
This course invites students to explore their creativity through the art of storytelling and self-expression. In Creative Writing, students will experiment with a variety of writing styles—including short stories, poetry, personal narratives, and creative nonfiction—while learning the core elements of great writing such as character, plot, setting, dialogue, and voice.
Through engaging prompts, collaborative activities, and guided workshops, students will develop their unique writing style and grow in confidence as writers. The class emphasizes imagination, thoughtful feedback, and the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revising and polishing a final piece.
By the end of the course, students will have built a portfolio of original work and gained valuable skills in creativity, communication, and critical thinking. This class is ideal for students who love stories, enjoy expressing ideas through writing, or want to grow as thoughtful and imaginative communicators.
Homework
Students will have regular writing assignments each week. Expected homework is approximately two hours.
