Course Description
The focus of this course will be learning world geography through maps and computers, while journeying through countries, experiencing their cultures through exciting hands-on activities and visual presentations.
Students will label maps and learn how to research by using a variety of atlases and almanacs. They will also learn key facts about countries, ask “how” and “why” questions, and discover how information relates to them, to God, and to the world. Students will be tested over maps and enjoy feasts to celebrate their journey through each continent.
Class periods will consist of learning geography through maps and games, as well as exploring highlighted countries and their cultures by experiencing their arts, clothing, music, crafts, foods, and games.
Homework
Homework will include geography practice and reading about highlighted countries. Each student will bring a food item of their choice - once each quarter on an assigned day to celebrate a continent. They may also choose to bring a food item to the remaining continental feasts, if they wish.
