Course Description
In this semester-long course, students will explore the intricate balance of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. Through engaging, hands-on activities, we will examine key pillars of well-being such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, hormones, and stress, helping students develop a holistic understanding of personal health.
Topics for study and discussion include:
• Physical fitness
• Understanding macro- and micronutrients and how to read food labels
• Coping with stress in healthy ways
• Building healthy sleep habits
• Developing discipline and self-regulation
• Spiritual health
• Discovering personal purpose
Homework
Student homework will primarily consist of project-based assignments that incorporate the pillars of health. These projects may be completed at the student’s own pace throughout the semester rather than as weekly assignments. Most learning and work will take place during class time.
Over the course of this 16-week class, students will maintain a health and wellness journal to make personal observations, reflect on progress, and set individual goals.
