Course Description

Intermediate Math is directed to those preparing for Pre-Algebra. Concepts that will be covered in this class include: graphs, fractions, decimals, percents, statistics, integers, solving equations, probability and beginning geometry. In addition to math, the important lessons of responsibility, accountability, and organization will be taught. Parents will be grading all homework assignments. Answer keys will be sent weekly to the parent email on file.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to perform the long forms of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on paper without the use of a calculator.


**Students who are new to TCC will be required to pass a placement test in order to be accepted into the class. Please see the attached test for instructions before enrolling in the appropriate math course.

Homework
  • There will be 3-4 homework assignments weekly

  • Each assignment will take approximately 45 minutes to complete

  • Weekly assignments are graded by parents (answer key provided)

  • Chapter tests will be administered by parents, but graded by the instructor

  • Ruler with (standard and metric)*

  • Clear protractor*

  • Standard calculator*

Worksheets with certain lessons will be sent via e-mail, so a working printer and e-mail access is required. 

​*Protractor and ruler will be used for 2nd semester. The calculator is to be used at home, only when approved by the teacher.
