  • Course Description

This one-semester course will include help in understanding the interconnectedness of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. Students will also obtain their CPR certification (required for high school graduation).

Topics for study and discussion will include:

  • CPR certification

  • Developing emotional intelligence

  • Physical fitness

  • Coping with stress

  • Dangers of substance abuse and addiction

  • Social media perspectives

  • Strengthening your spiritual health

  • ...more

The class will incorporate guest speakers, vibrant discussions, personal goal-setting, independent study, videos, reading selections, listening to selected podcasts, and conversation prompts for parents.

  • Homework

Student homework will be a combination of teacher-directed assignments and projects. During the 15-week class, students will keep a health and wellness journal for the purpose of making personal observations and setting goals. Students should plan to spend approximately 30-60 minutes on homework each week. Projects will require more time, but will not be weekly. 

  • Required Books & Materials

There is no required textbook for this class. The instructor will provide reading selections as needed.

Students may be required to purchase disposable items for CPR training. Details will be posted in the spring.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ENROLLING IN THIS COURSE:

This is a one-semester course. Students in Oklahoma History will be given first priority to select Health & Wellness for the second semester.
