Course Description
Geometry is designed to be taken in between Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. The objective is to empower and equip students to master and apply the skills taught in Algebra 1 building the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed in Algebra 2. A brief sampling of topics covered in the course is listed below.
Geometry Foundations and Logic
Students will start the year learning the building blocks of Geometry and how to defend the answers they discover. They will learn how to use inductive reasoning and how to create quality definitions by searching for counter-examples.
Shapes and Their Structure
In elementary school, geometry focuses on identifying shapes and their properties. In this high school course, your student will obtain more knowledge of two and three-dimensional figures. They will also explore the many uses of Geometry in real-world scenarios ranging from complex problems such as surface area and volume to how they can measure tall objects from the ground. (Trigonometry is really COOL!)
