Various aspects of the culture of French-speaking people will be introduced and discussed. The course will use a variety of media and material and will be based on the D’Accord 1 textbook. Students will constantly use and recycle skills and material. They will deepen their knowledge of French and Francophone culture and increase their communication skills.
This class meets once a week, and therefore it is imperative that your student spend time every day, when not at TCC, reviewing vocabulary, pronunciation, notes taken in class, in addition to practice on various websites assigned.
Classwork / Homework
Because speaking and listening are essential to language learning, participation in class is an expected part of the course. Perfection is not the initial goal, but participation is! Students will also be expected to come to class prepared with any papers printed at home and needed for class participation. Therefore a functional printer is a necessity. Your student will also be expected to SPEAK French to their partner or group or class, depending on activity.
Class will consist of practice, note taking, and various activities to reinforce French vocabulary, language and grammar. We will also quiz each week to reinforce learning of vocabulary.
