Google for Education

At The Classroom Collective, we use Google Workspace for Education, which is a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom, and more used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. At TCC, students will use their Google Workspace for Education accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers and classmates, and keep track of their grades.

Are students required to use the TCC-issued Google account?

Students must use the TCC-issued Google account to access their Google Classroom and email correspondence with teachers. Students may not join a class with a Google account outside of the @classroomcollectiveok domain.

How do I set up my student's TCC-issued Google account?

1.  Go to classroom.google.com

2.  Your student's unique account is firstname.lastname@classroomcollectiveok.com.

3.  Contact TCC or check the parent email for the temporary password.

4.  You may now help your child join their classes by either forwarding the links to their TCC account from step one or by letting them manually join in their Classroom account.  Please be sure that your student is joining from their account (not the parent account).

Can I join my student's class?

Parents will not be allowed to join a Google classroom as a student. It becomes difficult for teachers to sort out students/parents when they all appear in one list. You may access your student's grades by using their login credentials. 

 

If your student uses the TCC-issued Google account, you may be added as a guardian. This will allow you to receive automatic updates and summaries each week.  When teachers send class email messages to parents, they will be sent to the guardian list.

What is a guardian account?

A guardian is a parent with whom the student account is associated. When teachers communicate with parents, it will be sent to the guardian account.  Guardians receive automatic weekly updates and summaries for each student. 

Only students who join classes through their TCC-issued email account will have parents with guardian privileges through Google.

How can I view my student's grades?

Google only allows the student accounts access to grades.  You may use your student's login credentials to access his/her account and view grades under the GRADES section at the top. (This is not a change from previous school years.)  If you are a guardian, you will receive automatic updates and summaries regarding your student's Google Classroom activity.

What happens if my student forgets the password?

Our administrative team can reset your password. Email tccadmin@classroomcollectiveok.com. You will be sent an email reset message from Google which will be valid for 48 hours.
