Course Description
This year-long experience is broken into Art History during the fall semester and Art for High School Students during the spring semester.
ART HISTORY introduces students to the fundamental concepts, movements, and artists in art history. We will look at art from a Christian perspective and discuss how we can learn and appreciate art as Christ's followers. Through lectures, discussions, readings, and projects, students will develop an understanding of various art forms, styles, and their historical contexts. Students will engage in light sketching or drawing. Supplies provided.
ART FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS is an intermediate-level studio art course designed to allow students to recreate some of the famous art pieces throughout history. Students will be introduced to a variety of mediums and techniques. Throughout the semester, we will briefly recap lessons from the Art History class as we dive in to create our own masterpieces and fine-tune our art techniques.
We will focus on enhancing skills such as:
● Creativity
● Confidence
● Collaboration & Teamwork
